A wide, north-facing sandy beach at a river-estuary mouth, backed by dunes, with about 80m of loose dry upper sand giving way to firm, hard-packed lower sand and a gentle offshore slope. A beginner-friendly sandy beach break offers left and right waves, needing a strong SW swell. The estuary's south-eastern end carries dangerous rip currents and should be avoided at all tide states. Dogs are banned from the western section 1 May-30 September.
