A long (780 m), well-serviced urban beach with coarse sand and a steep entry slope, bordered by a breakwater to the northeast and the town's port to the southwest, moderating wave energy to keep the water calm and flat. It is a family bathing and beach-sports beach rather than a watersports venue. A protected dune area sits behind it. Nudism is not permitted. Red Cross runs assisted bathing 1 July-11 September.
