A wide, southwest-facing sandy bay with a gently shelving beach break producing left and right waves at all tidal stages - generally consistent and forgiving, popular with beginner and intermediate surfers, surf schools and families, though crowded in summer. Rip currents are a documented hazard. The beach holds Blue Flag status and is RNLI-lifeguarded through the main season. Dogs are banned 15 May-30 September, 10am-6pm.
