A 3.5 km Blue Flag sandy beach break on Achill Island's SW coast, exposed to the North Atlantic with year-round surf on SW swell and offshore NE wind, growing more powerful and suited to intermediate-advanced surfers in autumn/winter. Adjacent Keel Lake offers flat water for windsurfing, kitesurfing, and kayaking. Strong currents mark the eastern end. Lifeguards patrol seasonally, June-September; dogs are excluded from the flagged zone in summer.
