A wide, shell-shaped river-mouth beach of tan-to-dark sand backed by pebbles, where the Río Esva meets the sea, sheltered on its eastern side by the quartzite cliffs of Cabo Busto and set within a protected coastal landscape. Wave action is generally moderate and the beach withstands strong NE winds, attracting surfers by day. Currents shift near the mouth, which largely disappears at high tide; fishing there is banned. Lifeguards patrol in peak summer.
