2. What data we collect

We may collect and process the following personal data:

• Name
• Email address
• Phone number
• Company name (if provided)
• Any information you submit through our forms
• Technical data such as IP address, browser type, and device information

Separately, where we contact water-sports businesses about 4Shor, we hold business contact details — the business name, its town or area, a business email address, and sometimes a phone number or website. These come from publicly available business listings rather than from the business itself. See section 6.

3. How we collect your data

We collect data when you:

• Fill in a form on our website
• Sign up for emails or marketing communications
• Contact us directly
• Use our website (via cookies and similar technologies)

We also obtain business contact details from publicly available sources, including public business listings and mapping directories. Where we hold data we did not receive from you directly, we tell you so and where it came from — see section 6.

4. Why we use your data (legal basis)

Under UK GDPR and EU GDPR, we must have a lawful reason to use your data. We rely on the following:

• Consent — when you opt in to marketing communications
• Contractual necessity — to provide services or respond to enquiries
• Legitimate interests — to improve our website and services, and to contact water-sports businesses about services relevant to what they do (see section 6)
• Legal obligation — where required by law

5. Marketing communications

If you opt in, we may send you marketing emails about our services. We will never send marketing emails to an individual without their consent.

You can unsubscribe at any time by:

• Clicking the unsubscribe link in our emails, or
• Contacting us directly

Business-to-business contact is treated differently and is described in section 6. It does not rely on consent, and you can stop it at any time in exactly the same way.

6. Contacting water-sports businesses

We contact surf schools, hire shops, clubs and similar businesses to tell them about 4Shor, because a local water-sports forecast is directly relevant to what they do. This section explains that processing, which is separate from anything described above.

Where the details come from. We did not get them from you. They come from publicly available business listings and mapping directories, where a business has published contact details for the purpose of being contacted by the public. We hold the business name, its town or area, a business email address, and sometimes a phone number or website.

Our lawful basis. We rely on legitimate interests — ours in telling relevant businesses about a relevant service, and theirs in hearing about one. We have assessed that this is a fair use of a published business address and does not override the rights of the people behind it. Where the address belongs to a corporate subscriber, we also rely on the business-to-business provisions of the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations. We do not use this basis to email sole traders or other individual subscribers without their consent.

You can stop it at any time, and we will. Every email carries a one-click unsubscribe. Using it suppresses that address immediately and permanently — we do not ask why and we do not ask again. You can also reply to any message, or email info@4shor.app, and tell us to stop contacting the address, the person, or the business as a whole.

Your right to object. Because this relies on legitimate interests, you have an absolute right to object to it under Article 21 of the UK and EU GDPR. An unsubscribe counts as an objection; you do not need to use any particular form of words.

What we do not do. We do not sell or share these details, we do not use them for anything other than telling the business about 4Shor, and we do not use them to build a profile of any individual.

How long we keep them. While the business remains a relevant contact and has not asked us to stop. If it asks us to stop, we keep only the minimum needed to make sure we do not contact it again — which means we keep the email address on a suppression list rather than deleting it, because deleting it is how businesses get contacted twice.

7. How we store and protect your data

We take appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data.

Your data is stored securely and only accessed by authorised personnel or trusted service providers.

8. Sharing your data

We do not sell your personal data. We only share your personal data in the following ways:

• With service providers who perform services on our behalf, such as hosting, analytics, or email delivery.
• When required by law or to protect our rights, safety, or property.
• With trusted third parties for marketing purposes, but only if you have opted in. You can withdraw this consent at any time.

9. International data transfers

Some of our service providers may store data outside the UK or EU.
