A mile-long, fine-sand beach break in Cornwall, the county's most popular south-coast surf spot, picking up south-southwest swells rare on north-coast beaches. Lefts and rights; mid-to-low tide gives cleaner peaks, high tide brings a heavy shore dump; offshore wind is northeast. Suited to surfing and windsurfing. Dangerous rip currents occur at all tide states. Dogs banned 10am–6pm, 1 July–31 Aug. RNLI lifeguards patrol daily 5 May–30 Sept, 10am–6pm.
