The largest beach on the peninsula — an exposed beach backed by dunes on the ocean side of a narrow isthmus, below an active Army fort closed to the public except mid-September Heritage Days. A sandy beach break with left and right waves, best with southwest swell and offshore northeast wind. The bay side offers flat water for kite freestyle, though oyster beds are a cut hazard. Kite sports are zoned, forbidden at high tide.
