A remote cove at an island's south-western tip, reached only by a 1.5-hour hike or 50-minute cycle, its mixed dark sand and gravel bottom stained reddish-black by 19th-century industrial slag. Sheltered from the mistral, but its south-east shore is exposed to southerly swell; noted as a surf spot, kitesurf zone, and dive site. Lifeguard cover is reported but unconfirmed. Access is foot-only, restricted on high fire-risk days.
