Facing ESE, it catches easterly wind-driven chop rather than groundswell and is typically flat in summer, popular with kitesurfers and windsurfers. A central 2,100 m section is now permanently closed to protect nesting birds, fines up to €3,000; a 750 m strip near the marina stays open year-round.
