A quiet, seldom-crowded urban sand beach bounded by concrete breakwaters, with a gently shelving sandy bottom and no rock or reef. It is a swimming and leisure beach rather than a surf, wind, or kite spot; kiters risk being blown into the breakwater blocks here. It is the only beach in the city with a regulated dog-access area, running roughly June to September. Kitesurfing is banned regionwide 1 June to 30 September.
