Right place, right time

We model the wave that actually breaks at your spot, then score it for your sport and your ability. No data tables — just a decision.

In the ocean since the age of five, and windsurfing since the sport was invented. Rides the north shore of Fuerteventura almost daily, and shapes 4Shor around what the sea actually does.

Twenty years turning satellite and remote-sensing data into real-world decisions. Built 4Shor to stop juggling forecast apps and just get a straight answer for his sport and level.
LinkedIn ↗When Richard moved to the north shore of Fuerteventura, he couldn't find a forecast that handled wind and waves together. Surfers were squinting at wind apps; kitesurfers were dodging the Lanzarote wind shadow in real time; nothing was reliable. Talking to other riders made it clear this wasn't just his problem — it was everyone's.
Getting the right person to the right spot at the right time is really a geospatial problem — space and time — and 4Shor's parent company, Alcis, had spent 20+ years solving exactly that for coastal and environmental work. The question became whether waves could be modelled per break rather than as generic offshore swell. Existing seabed datasets were unreliable in the critical 0–5 m nearshore band, so we built our own 10-metre satellite-derived map of the European coastline and modelled the wave break by break. That pipeline — ShorSense™ — turns it into a single score for your sport and your ability, so time-poor riders get a decision instead of a data table. The full method is here.
The name came together in a London park on a sunny June day: 4Shor — for the shore, and “for sure.” R&D ran through the second half of 2025, the app was built over the following winter, and 4Shor reached Android in spring 2026 and iOS that summer — now scoring more than 2,500 European locations, with wider coverage to come. It's built by Alcis Holdings Ltd, registered in England and Wales.

Satellite bathymetry, nearshore wave modelling, per-sport scoring. Every score is a testable prediction.
We tune the score against what people actually rode — not what the model assumed they would.
Personalised forecasts for more than 2,500 European locations — scored from the seabed up.
