4Shor is a surf and water sports forecasting app and related services. This policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our mobile app, website, or subscribe to our marketing communications.

We collect only the data necessary to provide you with forecasts, personalised recommendations, and relevant communications. We do not sell your personal data to third parties.

2. What Data We Collect

Information You Provide:

• Account information: email address, display name
• Preferences: favourite beaches, preferred sports, ability levels
• Subscription information: subscription status (not payment details)
• Marketing data: name, phone number, company (if provided), opt-in consent

Information Collected Automatically:

• Location data: your current location (with your permission), used in real time to show nearby beaches and personalised forecasts. We do not build a long-term history or trail of where you have been.
• Device information: device type, OS, app version
• Usage & analytics data: in-app events and interactions collected via Google Analytics for Firebase — for example screen views, sessions, beaches viewed, favourites added, and subscription/paywall interactions. These are linked to your account identifier (Firebase UID) so we can understand how the app is used and improve it.
• Push notification token: a device token (via Firebase Cloud Messaging) so we can send you forecast alerts. Retained until you uninstall the app or turn notifications off.
• Advertising identifier (IDFA / Android Advertising ID): only if you grant permission via Apple’s App Tracking Transparency prompt (iOS) or the equivalent on Android. Used with the Meta (Facebook) SDK to measure whether our ads led to app installs or subscriptions. If you decline, this identifier is not collected and 4Shor works exactly the same.
• Technical website data: IP address, browser type, cookies, analytics

Information We Do Not Collect:

• A long-term history or trail of your precise location
• Contacts, photos, or personal files
• Health or fitness data

3. How We Collect Data

• Through account creation in the app
• Filling forms or signing up for emails
• Contacting us directly
• Using our website (via cookies and similar technologies)

4. How We Use Your Data

We use your data to:

• Provide personalised forecasts and recommendations
• Manage your account, preferences, and subscriptions
• Improve the app and website, and fix bugs
• Send service updates and alerts
• Send marketing communications (only if you opt in)

Legal basis (UK GDPR):

• Contract: creating and managing your account, authentication, delivering forecasts, and handling subscriptions.
• Consent: location access, marketing emails, and the advertising identifier (IDFA / Android Advertising ID) via App Tracking Transparency. You can withdraw consent at any time.
• Legitimate interests: product analytics via Google Analytics for Firebase (understanding how the app is used and improving it) and showing relevant in-app subscription offers. You have the right to object to processing based on our legitimate interests — email info@4shor.app.
• Legal obligation: retaining records where the law requires it.

5. Marketing Communications

• Marketing emails are sent only with consent
• You can unsubscribe via the link in emails or contact us directly
• Consent can be withdrawn at any time

6. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal data. We share it with the following service providers (processors), who act on our instructions:

• Google (Google LLC / Google Ireland Ltd) — Firebase Authentication, Google Analytics for Firebase, Firebase Cloud Messaging (push notifications), and Google Play billing on Android.
• Apple — App Store and StoreKit for in-app subscription billing on iOS.
• Meta Platforms — the Meta (Facebook) SDK, used for advertising measurement only where you have granted App Tracking Transparency consent.
• Microsoft Azure — application hosting and database.
• HubSpot — marketing/CRM and website analytics.
• A third-party email delivery provider, for transactional and (opted-in) marketing email.
• Law enforcement or other bodies where legally required.
• Marketing partners only if you have opted in.

7. Data Retention

• Account data: retained while your account is active; personal identifiers deleted within 30 days of a deletion request.
• Data deletion requests can be made to info@4shor.app
• Location data: used in real time; not retained as a location history.
• Analytics data: events in Google Analytics for Firebase that are linked to a user are retained for up to 26 months; aggregated, non-identifying statistics may be kept longer.
• Push notification token: retained until you uninstall the app or turn notifications off.
• Marketing/contact data: retained as long as consented or legally required.

8. Your Rights (UK/EEA GDPR)

You have the right to:

• Access, correct, or delete your data
• Restrict or object to processing
• Withdraw consent
• Receive your data in a portable format

• Some processors — including Google (Google Analytics for Firebase, Firebase, Google Play), Apple, Meta, and HubSpot — may process data outside the UK/EEA, including in the United States.
• Where they do, transfers are covered by safeguards such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement / Addendum, EU Standard Contractual Clauses, or an adequacy decision, together with each provider’s Data Processing Agreement.

• 4Shor is not directed at children under 13
• We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13
