4Shor is a surf and water sports forecasting app. We collect only the data necessary to provide you with accurate forecasts and personalised recommendations. We do not sell your personal data to third parties.

4Shor is operated by Alcis Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales. This privacy policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use the 4Shor mobile application and related services.

Information You Provide:
Account information: When you create an account, we collect your email address and display name. Preferences: Your favourite beaches, preferred sports, and ability levels. Subscription information: If you subscribe to Premium or Pro, payment processing is handled by Google Play. We receive confirmation of your subscription status but not your payment details.
Information Collected Automatically:
Location data: With your permission, we collect your device's location to show nearby beaches and provide relevant forecasts. You can disable location access at any time in your device settings. Device information: Device type, operating system version, and app version for troubleshooting. Usage data: Which features you use and how you interact with the app.
Information We Do Not Collect:
We do not collect precise location history or track your movements over time. We do not access your contacts, photos, or other personal files. We do not collect health or fitness data.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use your information to: provide surf forecasts for your location (with your consent); manage your account and preferences; process subscriptions; send service updates and alerts; and improve the app and fix bugs.
4. Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal data. We may share data with: Firebase (Google) for authentication and analytics; Google Play for subscription management; Microsoft Azure for hosting our forecast data and infrastructure; and as required by law.
5. Data Retention
Account data is retained while your account is active and deleted within 30 days of account deletion request. Location data is used in real-time only; we do not store location history. Usage analytics are retained in anonymised form for up to 26 months.
6. Your Rights (GDPR)
If you are in the UK or European Economic Area, you have the right to: access your personal data; correct inaccurate data; request deletion of your data; receive your data in a portable format; object to processing based on legitimate interest; and withdraw consent at any time.

We implement appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your data, including encryption of data in transit and at rest, secure authentication via Firebase, regular security reviews, and access controls.

Your data may be processed in countries outside the UK/EEA, including the United States (for Firebase/Google services). Where this occurs, we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place, such as Standard Contractual Clauses.
9. Children's Privacy
4Shor is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us.
