A wide, southwest-facing Atlantic sand beach (about 1.3 km) with a large tidal range, roughly 6.7 m at high water to 0.45 m at low. Higher tides bring surf and kitesurfing; low tide exposes a flat sand plain for land sailing. A nautical centre also runs kayaking and sand-yachting. It breaks left and right over sand, best on a west swell with offshore NE wind, though inconsistent. Dangerous rips are noted. Unsupervised; a kitesurf zone exists; dogs allowed.
