A wide, flat, SW-facing sandy bay on Cornwall's north coast, flanked by cliffs and exposed to Atlantic swell. A river mouth and sandbars produce a consistent left-and-right beach break, best in winter, with rip currents common when surf is up. Rockpools and submerged rocks appear at low tide near cliffs on both flanks. RNLI lifeguards patrol daily mid-May to late September. A seasonal dog ban applies 10am-5pm in July and August.
