Aberporth beach scores 80/100 for windsurf today at its best ability level (advanced). The beach faces N. A sheltered twin-bay beach in the Cardigan Bay SAC, split by a headland into two bays. The bed is sand mixed with smooth rocks on a steep-ish gradient; the beach break ranges from small whitewater to occasionally overhead waves, also used for sailing and windsurfing. Two rip currents flank the surf zone, best entered at mid-tide. Submerged fish traps appear at very low tide. RNLI lifeguards patrol weekends to mid-July, then daily through August.
