A 3km urban beach split by a volcanic reef, La Barra, running parallel to over half its length. The reef forms a wave-exposed surf zone at the southern end - fast, short, hollow peaks for intermediate/advanced surfers, best at high tide - while sheltering the rest of the bay into calm, flat water for swimming and paddleboarding. Boats are barred from marked swim zones; dogs and nudism are banned. Lifeguards operate summer 10:00-20:00, winter 11:00-17:30.
