Gruissan · France
Plage des Chalets scores 76/100 for canoe today at its best ability level (expert). The beach faces SE. A wide, fine-sand beach backed by a neighbourhood of wooden stilt chalets, shoreline continuing roughly 10km south-east. Mainly a flat-water gliding spot on the offshore Tramontane wind, hosting the world's largest windsurfing event; surf exists but is inconsistent, best on an ESE swell with offshore wind. Wind is gusty off the chalets, smoothing further along. Lifeguards cover 1.8km mid-June to mid-September. Weever fish are a hazard; vehicles prohibited.
