A sheltered, flat-water beach on the inner shore of a tidal basin, fronted by a long historic pier, sandy-to-muddy bottom, no surf since the basin blocks ocean swell. Swimming is tide-dependent: at low tide water recedes far out, and the beach can vanish at high tidal coefficients, so entry is only practical around high tide. Suited to paddleboard, kayak, sailing and swimming at high water rather than surfing or kitesurfing. A nautical centre is on-site.
