A wide, NNW-facing Atlantic beach in St Ives with a sandy bottom, occasional rock outcrops and granite headlands, receiving consistent WNW groundswell; the town's premier surf beach, best autumn through winter, with a spot known as 'the Boiler' producing heavy, barrelling waves. Not suited to flat-water disciplines when surf runs. RNLI lifeguards patrol daily, April-October, 10am-6pm. Dogs banned 15 May-30 Sept. Macro-tidal range; low-to-mid tide is best.
