The curved shoreline favours sailing, windsurfing, paddleboarding, kayaking and swimming over powerful surf, though surf can break in suitable swells. Rock pools and submerged rocks lie near the headland at the bay's northern end. A large tidal range exposes a wide band of sand at low water. RNLI lifeguards patrol seasonally, 10:00-18:00.
