03 · Location

In context.

A busy, urban shingle seafront on the English Channel, steep with no sand at the waterline. Groynes and submerged debris near the demolished West Pier are hazards; footwear is recommended. Surf here is limited, so the seafront serves mainly as a wind and kite-sports venue, with a designated kitesurfing and windsurfing zone west of the King Alfred leisure centre, plus open-water swimming. Powered craft must stay outside bathing zones, May-September.
