At high tide the mouth produces short lefts and longer rights, with a cobble bank sometimes creating hollow waves on spring tides; the lower sandy section exposes at low tide. RNLI lifeguards patrol daily 10:00-18:00 in summer. Best waves on the incoming tide. Hazards: rip currents and pollution after heavy rain.
