A sheltered sand-and-rock beach about 400 metres long, framed by cliffs at the entrance to the Gironde estuary. Waters are calm and swell-free, suiting kayaking, paddleboarding and windsurfing over surfing. Rocks emerge at low tide and the sea recedes far, so entry is best near mid-tide. A 5-knot speed limit applies within 300 metres of shore, and dogs are banned 1 April-30 September. Lifeguards staff the beach in summer; otherwise bathing is unsupervised.
