Sand is exposed mid to low tide; the cove takes more wave energy than the main Bigbury beach, supporting surfing and bodyboarding. At high tide the beach can shrink or disappear, so mid-to-low tide is safer. Strong currents run at the River Avon mouth. RNLI lifeguards patrol from late May; dogs banned seasonally.
